Helio Getting Purchaed

We have talked about it and finally the time has come for helio to get purchased by Virgin Mobile. It looks like this should push virgin into a better adaptable market as the Sprints and Verizons of our day. lets see how this change over works and where it puts Virgin. I personally think they should really analize the products and get the most out of them for their own benefit but I dont own them so oh well.

I finally kicked the bucket and changed carriers from Cricket to Sprint. I know, I know. I love cricket. I think that their prices and service cant be beat….in your home state. If you didn’t travel, you would be a fool to go with anyone else. However, last week I had a trip to Los Angeles and I was so upset at their roaming fees. It was so upsetting that I decided to switch carriers. Sprint is a bit more expensive but I got the employee discount so its not too bad.

I am contemplating changing service providers for my cell phone network. Yes, I know that cricket is looking to expand and they are doing a great job investing into networks that they hadn’t initially. I know…I know this but every once in a blue moon (about once a year) I am in a network that cricket doesn’t service and let me tell you, it sucks. In fact, I am on a bus on my way to California and I feel like I am counting my time until my service goes out. I just wish the other networks would put more into their price structure so I can make a competitive decision.

At&t Pushing For 3G

It looks like AT&T will make all of its new phones and recent phones 3G enabled. The CEO of the company told reporters and press in Las Vegas that they will ensure compatibility with their new 3G market. They also indicated that the exiting Apple iPhone and other Black Berries will also be in compliance of their new network. This change over should be implemented within a few months.

Cricket AWS

I was looking at some cell phone news and here is somthing that is big…very big!! It looks like the first network to use its newly acquired AWS band is Cricket. YES CRICKET!! How awesome is that? Their first all-aws network is in Oklahoma City. They already have 98 cell towers already up and will open up 5 more stores. It will slowly use its markets to increase the productivity of its market throughout the US. Watch them. They are a big player now!

St. Louis Gets A New Carrier

It looks like Leap Wireless (the parent company of my beloved Cricket) will be starting its own market in St. Louis. They are currently hiring employees as well for the market which looks to be a very strong market for them. On the good note, they have been doing excellent and soon to be releasing EV-DO market for the whole of Leap customers. They have pushed it back a few times. Lets see how it pans out for the organization.

Unlimited Plans Aplenty!

If I have said it once, I will say it again. Unlimited plans are the future of cell phone companies. In fact, in the last month, T-mobile, At&t, Verizon, and US Cellular have offered up unlimited calling options. Obviously, they do understand why organizations such as Cricket with leap wireless are making large draws of crowds to their service. The last year or so has been huge for consumers. They first reduced and ultimately stopped all locking of phones and now are providing pricey unlimited calling option plans. The next step: Cheaper plans. Its coming and Dangerous Dave see’s the future.

UK Phone Offers

I was looking for a phone for a friend who is looking to go to the UK. He is unaware of the complexities of the carriers there but wants something quick effective and most importantly, cheap. He loves his current t mobile plan in the US but feels like he will loose out when he moves to the UK. I told him that wasn’t the case because, in the UK, tmobile is alive and well and he should have no problem getting service there. His last concern was actually transferring his t-mobile phone number and I told him that probably wouldn’t happen because he is moving to an entirely new country with a new area code, country code, and one less digit on his number. He didn’t understand that concept and, frankly, I didn’t want to explain it to him.

Access Browser

I was looking for a browser that played as well as the Iphone browser. Okay, I know I have stated how much i hate the phone but I love their browser. There is no two ways about it. I did some research and there is a new company that released a browser for windows mobile. It looks extremely similar to the Iphone browser. Its called the netfront mobile browser which supports WM5 for now. Check it out at the website and let me know what you think!!

Google Android SDK

It looks like the new SDK from Google which should eventually rule humanity has been delayed a few months. Google stated that its team o’ nerds needs a few more months to complete the project and update its deadline from March 3rd to April 14th. They are also looking to implement a change which is upgrading the API and user interface. Lets see how this goes.
