It looks like the AWS 1700 MHz bank will be used in the Americas(plural).  The frequency is currently used heavily due to the increased amount of base stations and/or handsets that are also on that band.  The great part about it is that there will be seamless integration and a loss-less operation that is normally accrued from the development of a high frequency band (and a multitude of bands) that are directed towards the development of systematic development.
